How do the varying aspects of one’s identity influence their actions, perception of the world, and the way others perceive them?
Quiet
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking was written by Susan Cain over the course of 7 years and published in 2012 in New York. This non-fiction book tackles the slow rise of the extrovert ideal for success during the 20th century while describing the importance of introverts and optimizing success for both introverts and extroverts.

How do the aspects of introverts influence their actions?
An introvert gains energy from spending time alone or with a few close friends and feels drained by being exposed to an overstimulating environment for too long. Introversion is a spectrum, and this would vary from person to person. Introverts also often prefer to work alone and later discuss their ideas rather than constantly collaborating with others. When they are not given the chance to work alone, their work is often not well done because of distractions. This leads introverts to distance themselves from large crowds during big social events, choose to work alone when possible and require time to rechange after socialization. .
How does introversion affect one's perspective of the world?
Introverts are often more observant of the world and less talkative. They also likely have an increased sensitivity to their surroundings, which is why they struggle at times with feeling distracted and overwhelmed in loud crowds and busy spaces. They are more likely to find it appealing to spend time alone reading, in nature or wathcing a favourite TV show. Introverts are also more likely to spend time reflecting on the world and people around them, making them generally thoughtful and insightful individuals.
How does one's introversion influence the way others view them?
Introverts might be described as shy, uninterested or closed off at times by strangers. Thier less talkaktive nature could lead them to be viewed as intimidating. They are often good listeners, which can make them easy to talk to. They are usually well aware the world around them, and can be perceived as observant, reflective and thoughtful. Furthurmore, identifying as an introvert might cause others to believe you are shy, although many introverts are not shy and shyness is completely different than introversion.
